A Sampling of Work
Welcome to my alternative art site. Not that it is alternative, just that it is an echo of my original site. If I like it here, I might make it my primary site.
Check out my new acrylic, "1000 Words".
I also added a graphite/charcoal drawing.
In the GardenPyrography, commonly referred to as woodburning. This is a tryptic with the three 4" x 4" pieces mounted on a suede mat board and framed in a shadow box. The framing is as much a part of the art as the three pieces themselves. The artwork is burned onto Italian poplar wood. | Woodland DreamsPastel, it comes already matted and framed. The colors used are not traditional for landscapes, but it all blends well as you step away from the piece. It is very much impressionistic, only more with color than strokes. | White Sands, New Mexico, #5This is a smaller piece in watercolor. It is more from memory than from actual photos I took while on a trip there. The sky did its own thing when I painted it. This is typical of watercolor. It has a mind of its own. |

Open InvitationPyrography (woodburning). This is 11" x 14" on Italian poplar. The actual location is Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, outside the center, Liberty, MO. This is an award-winning piece, having taken first place in two shows. | Barn Door's OpenWatercolor, roughly 24" x 24", it comes matted and framed. This piece is based around an old 'saying' that we used up in Montana when the fly on someone's pants was unzipped. | Storm Over TreesThis was intended to be a card, but I liked it so much, I am in the process of matting and framing it. It is watercolor with ink pen. |
Hangin' Out | Get Outa' the Way! SOLD!Woodburning, this unfortunately is a bit blurred on the image. However, I wanted to show that I can and do do realistic animals. This was sold at the Kansas City Wood Carvers' Show in March, 2014. | Fall Snow and FogWatercolor. It is very loose and actually I tore it in two and it is now two paintings, already matted (white) and framed (black). |
Through the WoodsActually, I think if this as 'Over the Bridge and Through the Woods'. It is a woodburning as well and award-winning. I received a blue ribbon for this piece. | Early Fall SnowThis is the same scene as 'Fall Snow and Fog', but with a different palette. It too was split into two paintings, matted and then framed. | 1000 WordsAcrylic. This has a lot of detail with some stylized elements. It took a long time to finish and was done for a specific competition. |
75 YearsGraphite and charcoal. This is Dagg Park and in the background is the NKC library that was celebrating their 75th anniversary. | Early Fall SnowWatercolor. Kind of a moody piece. | Year of the HorseThe title was the theme of the show this made its debut in. Acrylic and very stylized. |
